updated. “If I were to wish for anything, I should not wish for wealth
and power, but for the passionate sense of the potential, for the eye
which, ever young and ardent, sees the possible. Pleasure disappoints,
possibility never. And what wine is so sparkling, what so fragrant, what
so intoxicating, as possibility!” |

I really need
to apologize for the delay in getting pictures up from the Christmas
Program and the children's program of The Christmas Story, and even pictures
of CWF's Taste of Home luncheon; for which, by the way, we had a very
good turnout. I
hope everybody came away with something that piqued their curiosity for
a new idea or brought a smile, or better yet, a laugh. I know I did. Unfortunately, the pictures I took of both Christmas programs are not very good. I was so discouraged when I saw what I had that I just put them on the back burner and regrouped, but there are a few that will work. I will post what I got under Photographs soon. NOTE: If you see pictures in the scrapbook that you would like to have a print of, Free of charge, just email me and I will get a copy to you, 4 x 6, printed on a regular old laser printer. I could also email you a jpg file suitable for printing, (straight off the web site, won't print well) of the picture and you can use your own, probably better equipment. Say Thank You to Kay Reisig for this idea as she was wanting to purchase pictures to give to each family involved in the Children's Program. However, I know she was thinking of beautiful individual pictures of the children involved and ones with their parents, against the manger backdrop. (You know, good pictures. I really couldn't charge for the pictures that I got and still look myself in the mirror.) Kay really did have it set up nice though. The lights were dim as everybody gathered around a well-done manger backdrop to hear the story of Jesus' birth and it wasn't hard to feel as if, somehow, part of that precious night so long ago was with us as well that night. However, it did not translate into good pictures. This photography stuff is a lot more intricate than snapping a few pictures. Plus my camera was acting so oddly. I can't figure out if I was just really hitting all the wrong buttons, the battery was dying, or what. Some of the pictures were just black blurs. Plus I have not yet learned the technique for composing a scene. But I am praying for a breakthrough any moment. I got some good pictures of the tables for the CWF Taste of Home Luncheon. Oh yes, I had time and was clicking the pictures of the tables before people showed up. Those turned out all right (still not showing any brilliance in the composition, but clear and not blurred). Now, after the fact, I am going through my pictures going "where are the pictures of the receiving table, the serving table, the coffee/dessert table? Where are pictures of the speakers? The people? Where? Where?" Not in my camera. I got so busy with the program, worrying over the lesson that I was giving, and enjoying the food, got busy with the meeting and greeting and playing with Reese, then it was opening prayer and I didn't even think about pictures. I had set my camera down just as the first people were showing up delivering the food. I really have to work on that!! I will try and describe those things that any self-respecting person who calls themselves a photographer would have had tons of pictures. As you entered, the first table was the welcoming table decorated with a white table cloth manned by smiling Betty Beals and Lou Ann Herstead. For $1 you could purchase a menu booklet (work done by Joyce) of all the recipes prepared for the luncheon. Next over was the serving table, which was set up beautifully with individual recipe ID cards, (Thanks to Joyce Ferguson), which really enhanced the experience for me, knowing which recipe was which. The table was truly a Bountiful Groaning Board with all the dishes presented behind their cards. Then the drinks and desert tables (my personal favorite) providing a multitude of choices to satisfy. See picture 1, picture 2, picture 3, picture 4 Now for the rest of the story: A word about the table decorations: The feeling that I was going for, being the frustrated interior decorator that I am, was looking through a window while in your own cozy house out onto a snow-covered, blue-gray January afternoon scene. Yes, I do occasionally watch Martha Stewart, why do you ask? Thank you all for not getting exasperated and giving up on me, this photography thing just is not making a smooth click into my personality. However, I will get better; at least, I can start remembering my camera. Actually, its kind of fun, just having a long learning curve on this one. In the meantime, please feel free to take your own pictures and send any you wish me to post. Any photographers out there with suggestions, all are welcome. |
